I would like to start this by saying this is only my opinion and under no means am I a financial advisor.
As a long-time sports card lover, I’ve always kept an eye on my growing collection. throughout this time I’ve expanded and reorganized my portfolio with some amazing buys and sells. Capitalizing in this market with big time show cards like those stated by Vegas Dave or Gary Vee is tough for the smaller competitor, So I’ve decided to play ball with those in shoes looking to gap their first $100 trade.
1. 1996-97 Upper Deck Kobe Bryant Basketball Card #58 – Rookie RC ~ NM
The value on this card is based on the fact Upper Deck no longer produces these cards. After Kobe’s tragic death on January 26, 2020, we saw a number of his items sky rocket in price. Jerseys, Shoes, and Autographed items prices soared. It’s only a matter of time before people realize this is and it becomes more exclusive and sought after. Kobe Bryant is a generational talent and the best player to ever wear a Lakers jersey…. plus look at all that cheese.
2. 1996-97 Upper Deck Rookie Exclusives R#10 Kobe Bryant RC Rookie Card NM HOF
Similar to the first the value of this card is based on the fact Upper Deck no longer produces them and the correlation between other Kobe’s items prices going up after his death. The Charlotte Hornets selected Bryant with the 13th overall pick but immediately traded him to the Lakers where he would go on to play 71 games in his rookie year. It is only a matter of time before it becomes more exclusive and sought after, also… you got to love that texture.
3. 2003-04 Topps Chrome Carmelo Anthony Rookie Card #113
Carmelo Anthony is currently a forward for the Portland Trail Blazers and was drafted No. 3 overall by the Denver Nuggets. Melo played all 82 games and averaged 21 points his first year, very impressive for a rookie. Carmelo Anthony has been in the NBA for 18 years and will be appreciated more once he retires. This is a great time to buy this card…. Melo is the GOAT.
